COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course teaches the methodology of the kinetic analysis, the knowledge-type modeling-simulation, the scale-up, and the optimal operation of animal cell bioreactors. The guiding thread of the course is a R&D project on CHO or Vero cells cultures.The industrial bioreactor operation is digitally optimized in batch, fed-batch and perfusion modes, for the production of cells, proteins or viruses.

SESSION 1: ​KINETIC ANALYSIS OF CELL CULTURES

At the laboratory, evaluation of the rates of cells growth and death, substrates consumption, and metabolites production

SESSION 2: ​KINETIC ANALYSIS OF OXUGEN CONSUMPTION AND TRANSFER

Determination, during the culture, of the oxygen consumption rate, solubility, and air to medium transfer rate

SESSION 3: ​BIOREACTOR KNOWLEDGE-MODEL FOR CULTURES SIMULATION

Based on the influencing b biochemical and physical phenomena, construction of the bioreactor simulation model for cells growth and death, glucose, glutamine and oxygen consumptions, and lactate, ammonia, and CO2 productions
